Bailout.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
We are about to lose the very fiber of our being as a country. Hearing Pelosi speak of the government taking over ownership of mortgages gave me chills. I’d rather rent than have the government own my house. Yikes.
It sounds like even a barrage of phone calls and emails from constituents would not sway our legislators at this point.
So, where are we now? Got me.
We are headed for Marxist/Socialist government.
Land of the free and home of the brave.
Give me a break.
I like Sarah Palin.
Yup, even though she is a working Mom and I’m not. In fact, in my early years of motherhood, I pompously judged others for not following the same exact methods I was choosing. The only way to raise a child is to stay home with it, or them, I chanted.
Over the years, I’ve fought my own guilt about my mothering. Some might say Sarah is wrong to leave her children for the day and go to the office. Some might also say that I am wrong for not cooking every meal for my children. Some might also say that I should always do their laundry, drive them to jobs wherever they can get them, or read a book to them every day. Besides, what else does a mother who is not employed have to do? That is her life, isn’t it?
With 21 years as a mother, I’ve learned a few things. God made us all different. What a revelation, huh? No, seriously, you hear it all your life, but society, the public school environment I grew up in, taught me something different. Eventually I launched into homeschooling. I studied the theory and the method and the tactics and the catalogs. I learned that children are born with an inate personality and learning style. We are to try to find curriculum that fits them.
Then one day I realized that those children will grow up and have the same basic learning styles and personalities. Even as adults. Huh.
Maybe it is ok that I choose a different method of parenting, homeschooling, and housekeeping. (Ok, so that last one is still a work in progress, but you get my point.) I soon realized that the children that God gave us, are the children He wanted us to have. AND, the parents he gave to them, are the parents He wanted them to have.
We all have a unique calling in our lives. We all have a purpose in God’s great design for our homes, our families, our communities, and our nation. Sometimes God needs to use a strong woman to fill in the holes where a man, or several of them, have mucked up the works, or is afraid as Barak (no kidding, that was his name,) was in the story of Deborah in the book of Judges.
It may not be God’s perfect design, but Adam and Eve took care of that a long time ago.
