Funtown Splashtown

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Anna, Fran, Erik and I went to Funtown Splashtown.  I hadn’t been to an amusement park in years.  Anna won four tickets, so we went.  I rode more rides than I’d planned.  Most of the photos are taken of things I didn’t ride!  The only proof that I was there is that there are no photos of me!

Daily Stuff

Yes, life is more than one milestone after another.  Sometimes it’s about the every day!  I’m here just plugging away at the things that require me.  I set up all the paperwork for Awana, tweeking and twisting it every day here and there!  Then I peruse my school planning.  Log books, book lists, shopping lists.  School starts at our house in a few weeks, so I have a little time to pull it all together.  For now, I’m out of paper, so I can print nothing in preparation.

Erik will start a temporary job for the Guard in Augusta in a week.  We hope his car will be out of the shop by then.  This job should hold him until he leaves for his next training school.

The weather is nice today.  Moderate temps and a nice breeze.

We are happy to report that the old 1960s doublewide that used to be next door has been removed.  One sheet of metal at a time.  The man who lives across the street from it bought it because it was an eyesore.  He plans to plant a field there!  We are more than delighted!

Well, there you have the first every day ordinary post from me in quite some time.

So, Erik graduates from AIT in a few minutes down in VA.  We aren’t there, but wish we were.  Especially since he just told us yesterday that when he went to pick up his travel arrangements, they told him they didn’t buy him a plane ticket.  All last week they told him to check in on Monday………..Now he is told he must do kp for 4 or 5 days until “they can get him a flight.”  Yeah.

So, we don’t know when he’ll be home.  Last night I considered getting into the van and heading down there.  He’d get home quicker.  Yet, because he has no tickets, he also has no orders releasing him.  I’d sure like to have a little chat with them………..

Micah and Adam are currently up at Moose River Outpost.  Our church is having a “church family camp” this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and our teens are there now planning the events and activities for it.

Anna is hoping to go to the beach today since it promises to be the only fully sunny relatively dry day in a month-long span of summer days.  Seriously.  Rain has graced us every day for weeks……….
