So, here is a picture of Fran at his shop. He called us this morning at 7am sharp. Anna was just delivering our coffee and tea in bed. That’s a tradition; in order to get us up as early as she wants us to, we need a little caffeine to coax us!! So, we all talked and then had to hang up.

Christmas is Here

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

The season begins with advent…..the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We kicked it off by marching in the local parade in a “living nativity” of sorts. It is a tradition now, with 3 or 4 years of doing it under out belts.

We’ve kept up with the special gatherings and celebrations. We’ve planned and bought the gifts. The season has been sweet and I’ve done pretty well despite knowing that something isn’t quite normal.

Today. Plans to bake. Ok, I was supposed to do it yesterday, but I just wasn’t “up to it.” So, today, I set my intentions high and tied the apron on. I took a deep breath and tried to find the interest or desire to make the cute little yummy loaves I’d planned all along to be gifts for my closest friends. I wandered over to the window and stared at the rain pelting the shiny street. No, they really aren’t snow flakes…just more rain. Maybe tomorrow we’ll get a white coating. (more…)

This is a photo that Fran sent of his Christmas tree. It is actually pretty cool! You plug it into your computer and it blinks different colored lights. Can you think of anything more perfect for Sgt. Gizmo himself? As soon as Micah saw it online, I knew I had to order it and have it shipped right to him. The other items are things that were sent by friends and relatives early in the season.

This was made here in Maine then shipped over to hang at the camp. I drew a hand in the feet area….just to be different! Fran didn’t even know that I had put something on it when he mentioned it. He decided he best go take a closer look!

Fran’s in the Maine Army National Guard for 6 more years after this enlistment is up in August of 2006. Or is it March 2006? I don’t know, exactly. He’s here with 1LT Gates.
