We’d Love to Know!

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Are you following what’s going on on the web site?  Let us know.  We don’t know how many of you are keeping tabs on things, and how many folks we’ve missed sharing the web address with.  The easy way to let us know it is to click on “comment.”  Then just type a quick hello in the box!  That way we’ll know that you are up to speed, and that I’m not writing to a wall!!

You don’t have to write anything profound or inspiring….just say, “Hello!”

Remember, Fran reads this, so if you have a message for him, you can leave it in the comment box.

How Fran’s Doing

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Fran has been in Kuwait for 2 months now. He has settled into his quarters, learned his job, and adjusted to the 4 acre plot of desert he calls home. With that under his belt, he is venturing into new challenges. What to do to keep the brain cells working, and not stagnating from the normalcy of the known and predictable?

So, his more recent off-time occupation is to help the guys who are maintaining the computer network used by the tents. This task promises to keep him busy for a bit of time to come, so that is good. After all, what would Fran do without keeping his fingers in the technology equipment that he lives with and rely’s on each day?

His camera sees things with a humorous eye at times. You might call it, Comic Rehydration, if you were naming it. In fact, (more…)

Maine Support Our Troops Plate

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Maine State Representative, Don Pilon of Saco, Maine has initiated a pursuit to create a yellow ribbon plate available for purchase for any Mainer. To get a plate approved for sale, you must collect 2000 signatures and raise $40,000 to pay for the purchase of the processing of the first 2000 plates. This is cool. You can read more about it here.

They have the signatures, and now they are raising the money. A woman called into the radio station that is helping this along, to challenge military families in Maine to go to this site and donate toward a total of $1000 of the $40,000 today. (more…)

Ok, while I’m packing up the latest package to send to Fran, our little kitty decided that it was time to go visit him. She jumped in a nearby box and just looked up as if to plead with me to take her to the Post Office too.

Sorry little one, besides, I don’t think they have any of your new favorite treats over there….they’re called Temptations (by Whiskas) and both of our cats lick the package and bat it around with their paws to try to get it open after I have given them their share each night.

I bet Maddie is thinking that if she can just go where Fran is, she’ll get more treats than I parcel out! After all, that is normally Fran’s job!
