Well, Fran has arrived “in country.” That’s what they call it when they are overseas at their assignment. To me, in country would indicate, “in MY country,” but such is not the case. Basically, he is there and we are here. While it is about 4pm here, it is about 11pm there.

I thought of him when I saw this flag raising this past week at camp. Last year he did this job with his cabin full of boys. It was odd seeing someone else do it.

His latest need to purchase items were sheets and a power converter. There aren’t any in stock in the store, and he couldn’t buy any off of the outgoing soldiers…the cash machines were empty. Having to buy sheets means that they have mattresses and not just cots. That’s a good thing. They are still in tents, though. Sort of like M.A.S.H. but tan rather than green!
