An Ordinary Day

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

I really don’t know what to write. I started this effort brimming with topics of all kinds to share. There are so many stories and circumstances that beg me to write, but it isn’t happening. It must be that there are times when life takes over and you live more than you write about what you are living. I am guessing that when the time is right, the words will come out through the keys, and the thoughts learned and felt over the preceding days or weeks will avail themselves to all who read here.

So, forgetting the thought of writing about philosophical concepts…maybe I should just hit on some practical, real facts. (more…)

A Shout of Joy Comes in the Morning

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

Psalm 30:5
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:4-6 (in Context) Psalm 30 (Whole Chapter)

The sun was out yesterday, and now the clouds have rolled back in, releasing a few more raindrops…just in case we didn’t get enough over the last week! I will say that despite all the news about flooding in the northeast, we have not felt it. Our basement is dry and only the ground is mushy. For that I am glad, ‘cause I wasn’t liking the sound of the word “drought” that was being passed around after such a dry winter. I can’t even remember when we had our last snowfall, but I think the bulk of it graced our ground before 2006 even came. (more…)

It’s Raining

It’s been raining for days.  We got so little snow this winter that drought was a common word of fear around here.  Not sure I’ll hear it again…from the weather man…..

In my life, however, there is a drought. Inside I am drowning and dry as a bone all at the same time.  Figure that one out.

Maybe that is normal for a military spouse left to her own while the hero goes out to “take care of the bad guys.”

Who knows.

If I don’t write for a while, its because I don’t know how to do this job.  Stay home and keep the fires burning?

With rain and brittle tinder at war within me, how can any fire stay lit?

The Daily Grind?

Friday, May 12th, 2006

What exactly is “The Daily Grind?”  You might think it is the normal things that happen through the course of any ordinary day.  Yet, I ask you, what is an ordinary day?  Is it a day where nothing goes contrary to what you expected?  Is it a day that no one needed to go to the Doctor, or the Dentist, or the Chiropractor? Maybe it’s a day that no one forgot to brush their teeth, or left their baseball glove out in the rain, forgot to go to an appointment, or forgot to pay a bill.  That’s normal, right?  Um, well… (more…)

The “Business Trip” is Over

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

Since Fran left, I have told folks, “Oh, I’m just fine! Really, I am so accustomed to Fran going on 1 and 2 week business trips for his regular job, that this is nothing really!” Well, those two weeks have come and gone. How surreal to be punctuated by the death of one of their own. No, SSG Dale Kelly was not from Fran’s unit, but close enough. (more…)
